Why do I need chauffeur insurance and what cover is available?

Motor insurance is a legal requirement by law for anyone looking to use or keep a vehicle on the public highway under the road traffic act of 1991. Also if you are looking to use your vehicle and are a chauffeur you will require a specialist chauffeur insurance policy which will cover you for hire and reward.

• Third party only chauffeur insurance- This is the most basic of cover for taxi insurance and covers you for third party bodily injury and damage to third party property.
• Third party fire and theft chauffeur insurance- this covers all of the above plus fire and theft cover.
• Comprehensive chauffeur insurance-this insurance covers both of the above plus accidental damage to your taxi.

Will my chauffeur insurance have an excess?

If you opt for third party only cover this type of policy would not have an excess on it, if you select third party fire and theft cover or comprehensive cover then the insurer will impose a policy excess this will differ dependant on the insurer, if you are unsure please speak to one of our advisors who will be able to help.

Can I add additional drivers to my chauffeur insurance?

Most chauffeur insurance policies will allow you to add additional drivers to your policy however the insurers may impose restrictions, due to age or licence. Due to the type of cover most insurers will not issue on an any-driver basis.

Can I get breakdown cover for my chauffeur vehicle?

Some insurers will include breakdown cover in with your chauffeur insurance, however we can offer this as a standalone product and this specifically designed for chauffeur.

Can I pay for my chauffeur insurance on instalments?
